How is a mainsail boltrope feeder used?
I have one like the (hopefully) attached photo, but cannot figure out how to use it.
It would be nice to be able to raise the main from the cockpit. Is this possible with a boltrope luff main?

You fix the device into the groove just above the mast gate. The screws on the base of the feeder lock the barrel in the groove... you must preload the bolt rope into the feeder....then you can hoist the sail continously.... it guides the bolt rope at the correct angle to enter the groove without binding as it unflakes from the boom.

We use mast gates with sail slugs. This makes for the easiest hoist and your main is always attached to the mast. Any sail loft can install slugs for you. It is well worth the money. We have all of our lines coming back to the cockpit, and the main is very easy to hoist.

I second the sail slugs, it makes raising the main so convenient
