I finally blew out the old mainsail on my Hunter 26.5 and am trying to buy a new sail. Does anyone have suggestions or experience in buying a new mainsail. Brands, # of battens, materials , etc. Please give me advice.

Depends on how you sail (do/will you race?), your budget, etc. My '87 26.5 came with a 1-yr old full-batten main (dacron) when I bought it last year, and it works great for racing, even with a blown-out genoa (next investment). Looking for a knowledgeable local sailmaker (with personal references) and internet research on materials would be my first two steps.

I have the original main from my 26.5 that was kept as a spare when I purchased the boat last fall. It is well used, but might keep you sailing until a new one arrives. If interested, let me know. I would take $100 for it.
