I recently bought a 1979 DS II and it came without a mainsheet. The rigging includes a small block on the boom and a dual blocks (small/large) with a cam cleat on back end of the cb trunk. Any suggestions on the length, type and size of line to use?

I have a 1979 too

I measured my mainsheet, it is 23' of 5/16" Dacron double-braid. You can buy a ready-made mainsheet from Rudy at D&R Marine or just buy the line locally and fix it yourself. The 44' measurement was for the DS I. Do you have a manual? I do, and could send you a copy.

Whew!

I was getting ready to order 44 feet of line. Thanks for the correction. Also, on the other daysailer site you answered my question about the outhaul length, stating 3 feet, but I measured the distance from the clew area to the aft end of the boom to the V-cleat and it's more like 8 feet.

Manual

Sunbird, I do have a manual, but there's nothing in it about the length of the running rigging. What kind of main sheet rigging do you have on your DSII for your 23 foot sheet? I have a double-block and cleat on the back end of the cb trunk and a block on the boom.
