Do you have a shot that shows the blocks on the boom? It’s a little hard to say without seeing what’s available there.
That looks the same as mine.
The blocks need to be in good condition. It all works well when set up right.
The traveller control lines should come back to cam cleats accessible from the cockpit.
I got lucky and was given a self tailing winch for the main sheet.

There are three blocks on the Boom and it looks to be original. One behind the other space of foot or so apart maybe 2 ft.
That appears to be typical mid-boom sheeting arrangement. The mainsheet controls the sail's leech tension, the traveler controls the angle of attack (boom's position). As the boom extends outboard, past the range of the traveler..that device becomes ineffective and the mainsheet will assume the angle of attack role, while the VANG takes over leech tension. Sorry for the tutorial, just reviewing everything's purpose. So...... if you want to change things around...it's your boat and your body...just remember what needs to be accomplished by the control tools you have available.
To create a more efficient environment, first remove the clutter on deck. Then makes sure all lines can run smoothly through their respective blocks. As boats age the running rigging often gets swollen from exposure to the elements. Rather than drilling new holes to relocate hardware, simply refreshing your running rigging will suffice. New cordage, maybe even smaller diameter (but higher quality) helps tremendously. Old blocks can be washed with soap and water.... and replacing the out of date, crusty gear can also solve performance issues. Good luck. Have fun.

It looks like the forward two lines are crossed, as if the sheet is running the wrong way through the forward most block. The aft block might be crossed too but that’s harder to say from that shot.
That looks about right. Can't recall if the three blocks on the boom bales have swivels. If they do, the twist in the forward purchase will straighten out when the boom is let out, taking out the twist. If not, re-reeve the mainsheet for a fair lead. The sheave in the block before the mainsheet winch looks pretty atrophied and crumbly. It should be replaced or rebuilt.
