Main Sheet Problem

I have a late '60s Mariner. The block for the main sheet was mounted on the fiberglass where the centerboard lies when retracted. Unfortunately, this wore out and the block was dismounted. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems that fiberglass patching and remounting would result in a similar problem in the future. Any suggestions?

Todd, You may be correct that repairing it would wear out again, but consider that it took at least thirty years to happen once and it may not be that big a deal. In the alternative, consider mounting a block with cleat to the boom itself where the block that turned the line down to the centerboard trunk used to be as a solution to the problem Justin - O'day Owners' Web
