Henry,
After removing the factory installed table, I had a SS sleeve tube over the compression post with 2 flanges that supported the original table. I needed to do something with both. As a result, I built the lower table as a "cocktail table", and the upper as a table for dining, using the lap top, etc. Both provide unique use while allowing a more open salon area for conversation and people space. Both tables were made from a 9 ft piece of 1-1/2" teak. I made a pattern using construction paper and then gave it to the lumber yard to cut the teak, glue the pieces together and form the outline I'd given them. I did the final finish work and sealing at home. Installation also included routing out a 1" cut underneath the tables for a steel beam for extra support. I get lots of great reviews from friends who come aboard.
