It sounds like you have a traditional main sail?

I just purchased a new main for my 1988 O’Day 322. I think the original sail was made by Doyle. A PO had replaced the headsail with a UK 130 Genoa.

I reached out to some local (Chicago) lofts (UK, North Sail) as well as several on-line sources (SBO, FX sails).

North Sail came out and measured my mast (which was reassuring) and their price was reasonable.

I wanted a full-batten, loose foot, cruising sail and the sales guy told me that I should consider a Sailtrack to reduce friction. My old boat had full battens and a ball-bearing batten cars. I was convinced and purchased the Tides Marine Sailtrack, along with the new sail from North Sail.

If you are looking to replace just the slides and the webbing that holds them on using your own sewing machine, Sailrite stocks them. Otherwise take the whole sail to a loft and let them give you a quote.
