I am sure that this has been covered before but i need the help on this one. I have just run all my control lines to the cockpit to allow for safer sailing. But when i raise the main it has a habit of droping out of the mast track. I remember someone talked about putting a plate over it however would appreciate any help or ideas that are out there. Thanks.

Track stop

I have a slide bolt that fits into the mast slot and is tightened down with a large nylon nut. It fits in above the mast gate after youv'e feed the main in. It stops the lugs from falling out when you lower the main.

Mast Gates

Check out the link below for one solution. There is also a guy (Joe Martinak?) who makes a nice stainless set for a reasonable price. I can dig up his address if you are interested. The gate thingies are a great answer for boats that are kept in a slip or mooring and the main sail stays rigged. They would be a pain for a trailor sailor. In that case the stop is the best answer. With the gates reefing is much easier, but if you trailer they would have to be removed each time.
