I have a 1987 Hunter 23, I sent my sails out to have them cleaned LaMauney process , they did a great job. I put the sail on, and now the front and the lowest eyelet on the sail , closest to the mast, is not connected to anything. The slug is in the channel, but it seems like there is too big of a gap between the sail and the mast. I don't remember taking anything off there , but I 'm getting old and can't remember everything from season to season. Maybe I didn't drink enough !!!

Is it a case of "Honey they shrank the sail" ?
I usually take lots of photos of my boat set-up, parts, assemblies etc.... even small little stuff, you'll never know when these will come in useful... and especially for instance like this...
Then again, sometime I forgot where I stored those photos ...now that is another story for another time.

Knot, you may have misplaced a shackle which would attach the tack of the main to the top of the gooseneck on the mast. I usually make this attachment before I tension the outhaul. I got tired of losing these shackles and now attach it to the mast when I pull the sails at the end of the season :)
