I have a Hunter 466, hulling out the big furling main with electric wench is easy, my issue is pulling it back in on the other side with no electric wench require hundreds of hand cranks, I can`t use the in-furling sheet on the electric wench on the stb side because the sheet is a continuous loop sheet and to short to reach over to the stb. electric wench. I`m told I have two options? I can have the continuous loop sheet spliced with a 3 ft extension, or buy another 2 speed Lemar 48 electric wench for the port side sheets. Any other suggestions are very welcome.

The splice sounds about $3500 cheaper.

But using an electric to pull the sail in could be a bit dangerous... its a complex, finicky system. Any snagging and you don't feel it on the powerful electric. You just hear stuff breaking. We only use our electric for the main halyard, and that's after making sure nothing can jam.

Why can't you just reverse the lines. Since it is a continuous loop the "other" line should be right there. Just put it on like the hauling line.
Perhaps there are lead angle issues. Got a picture?

To unfurl you pull the outhaul.

Only to furl you use the continuous furling line.

I'm assuming on the Hunter they are on different sides of the companionway.

Oh, and you can convert a Lewmar to electric for 1/2 the cost of a full electic replacement.

My in mast furling always jams if you use the out haul line to pull the main out. I have to use the furl out line to push the sail out then keep tightening up with the out haul. Bit of a pain if you are by yourself but better than jamming that sail. I know what you mean about furling in the main, takes for ever. I am looking into retro fitting an electric Harkin 40 for the same reason
