It's time for a new sail cover. My old one is made with Sunbrella, but I've heard about Weather Max 80.
My old cover is at least 9 years old, and am pleased with the color retention.
Anyone have one made with Weather Max 80? It seems to be a little less expensive then Sunbrella.
I'm in New Jersey so Sun is not a major factor like in Florida.

No personal experience but from their web site...

What Do You Mean, WeatherMAX Is Guaranteed To 1500 Hours UV? How Long Will This Last?
1500 hours of UV refers to the number of hours WeatherMAX is tested in an accelerated Weathering System exposed to all spectrum UV, in addition to water, and changes in temperature and humidity. 300 hours of exposure in one of these machines is the industry standard or equivalent of one year outdoors.
WeatherMAX 80 comes with a limited warranty of 5 years (1500 hours).
WeatherMAX LT comes with a limited warranty of 3 years (1000 hours). ( http://www.safetycomponents.com/WeatherMAX/FAQ/index.html )
Some of the covers we made for the Mac that have been exposed 12 months of the year (mostly in Utah, but still at 6000 feet where the sun is intense) are still looking pretty much like new after 5 years of constant exposure.

We made a lot of projects .....

... with Sunbrella and it would take quite a difference in price to move me away from it.

Do you have a sail-pack now or are you considering one as long as you are making a cover. I really like them along with the lazy jacks but that is personal opinion,

No experience with WeatherMax. We made our own from a kit (Sailrite) but if I were going to purchase one, I'd take a serious look at the store on this site.

The jib sock for our racing headsail is made out of WeatherMax80. Three years of MN sun and it looks like new.

My jib deck bag is Weathermax 80, and after 1 season of SE PA sun and rain (in other words, not terrible sun, a fair amount of rain,) it still looks brand new and sheds water. I got it from Lee Sail Covers: http://leesailcovers.com It's not a direct color match for the Pacific Blue Sunbrella main cover that came with my boat, but then again, that cover is stained from birds and algae, no matter how I wash it (twice with powdered Tide and Oxyclean.) On the other hand, that Sunbrella cover didn't repel water at all, and I'm hoping a bottle of 303 Fabric Guard does the trick for another few years. At which point I'll have Lee Sail Covers do me up a Weathermax main cover.

I also had my made by Lee Sail Covers and the 303 worked for me.... It's held up well for the past 3 years here on the west coast of Florida. While the colors are not an exact match, I've been very happy with the quality and customer service. I would suggest that you don't try to match colors and go with a different color from any Sunbrella colors.

Thanks for the input. I have been on the Lee Sails web site. I think that is going to be my best bet.
Thanks again
