I am in the process of purchasing a new main sailf for my 1979, ODAY CB. I am considering a loose foot, with full battens (please comment pros - cons). Presently my mast is off an a distance from the boat. I have been asked the following from the sail loft:

a. measurement from aft face of mast to tack pin
b. measuremnet from top face of boom to tack pin
c. measurement from aft face of mast to reef horn or single line blcok in boom
d. measureement from top face of boom to reef horn
e. measurement from tack pin to slide point on mast

f. the backstay distance from the boom

Can any one assit me with this data? Thank you

I got my new main last year only the top two battens being full length. This was suggested by my local Doyle Sails loft. Seemed like a good compromise. Also most mains now are made loose footed. No need to have a shelf built into the foot. Plus loose footed is cheaper to make. Love my new main.
I changed the end pieces on my boom this spring so any measurements would probably be meaningless.

Rich,
Thank you for photo and your suggestions. I did find the required measurements.

One of our club members has an O'Day 26 with a loose foot main that was made by Sperry Sail and he likes it. I'd be willing to buy one for my boat as I have always favored a mainsail with sail slides on the foot. A reefed sail looks better when the reefing points are tied around the sail over the boom as opposed to around the boom for a sail that has a bolt rope that fits in the boom's sail track. I would think that it would be even easier and faster to tie reefing points on a loose footed mainsail than one with sail slides on the foot of the sail or even a mainsail with the bolt rope on the foot.
