main halyard fauled at top of mast during winter. How is this possible. What kind of blocks are used in case I need to replace it. 1989 33.5

It is possible that the halyard jumped out of the sheave and has lodged between the sheave and another sheave or the masthead fitting. Probably need to take a ride up and look at it before deciding on what the solution is.
