Hello....I'm a new Mac-Ven 21 (year 1976) owner, just brought her home today. The wheel in the block at top of mast is broken, I'd like to replace just the wheel because if I replace the hole block, I may have to drill new holes which I don't want to do. If I could replace with the exact block, that'd be fine because I'd drill out the old rivets and rivet in the new one. Where can I buy what I need? On the jib, she came with two, one apox 22x22x12, the other 13'6"x15'6"x7'9". What are these jibs. Any help is appreciated Bob

Bob, I don't believe that you can still find diurect replacement blocks for your older boat. I have an 86 and just replaced the main block on top and spent a good bit of time looking. In retrospect, it was no big deal to install a new Harken ckeek block I picked up at West Marine. I reused the top hole and drilled a new hole to accomodate the new block. It works fine and a lot better than the old deteriorated block. Joe

Try this site for your sail question. It looks like you may have the V-21 genoa and the jib. http://www.wadler.org/Boating/sailsXtype.htm

The V 21

is an interesting rig. Some versions came with a masthead forestay to which the genny is attached, and an inner fractional stay to which the working jib is attached. Check to see if there is a second set of hounds, or an attachment point on the mast and on the deck for the innerstay. Check the brochure at the attached link. I wonder if it is set up to sail as a dual headsail rig in light air. You can purchase replacement sheaves from West, Boat U.S., et.al. But you might like a bearinged block like a Harken better, even if you do have to drill an extra hole...it's only a number 8 or 10, I think.
