Hi all and esp. Crazy Dave, I'm considering a traveler for my 1999 H260 to be mounted on the little step in front of the companion way. My question is about moving the boom attach point. I've already moved the attach point forward 8 inches to clear the front of the bimini. I need to move it another 8 to 10 inches more forward to put it directly above the proposed traveller location. Questions: 1. Does it matter much to have an offset from the boom attach to the cockpit attach point (don't move it further forward)? 2. How far forward can the main sheet be safely attached to the boom? The forces become greater the more forward it is moved. Thanks and Fair winds, Tom

hope this helps

AS long as the attachment on the boom clears the bimini, I would not move that boom attachment again. If there is a slight angle of the line from the traveler to the attachment, in my books based on experience, that should be fine. When attaching the traveler to the boat, make sure it is solid. Do not have the interior cieling flexing. If it does, then I would do one of two things. Inject the area where you are going to drill with resin using a hypo style plastic syringe. Then redrill. The other method is of course use long bolts and inside drill the holes to incorporate a stailess stee tube for the bolts to go through and then you can use a washer on the end of the tubes to tighten down not allowing the nut going into the tube. Make sure you caulk the heck out of dodge and clean up immediatley. Crazy Dave Condon
