When raising the main sail my battens get caught in the lazy jacks. Can they be adjusted? Are they sticking out too far? The main sail is the original UK fully batten mail.

Modify them?

Jim, search the "Forum Archives" and the "Photo Forum". There must be volumes of information on this question. There is advice for raising the main and for modifying your jax. See LINK below as an example:

Elastic Cord

I had the same problem on my 320. I ended up making the lazy jack lines long enough to pull forward to mast, and then used elastic cord to hold them against the mast. When it comes time drop the sail, release the cord and pull the lines from the end of the boom. By the way, don't try shorting your battens: it won't help. Hunter sent my battens about 6-8" too short to begin with, and they hung up just the same.
