Just opened the furler for the first time in the 23.5 this afternoon. Probably a 10-12kt wind. The boat flew! Was really surprised at the speeds we reached. I have been sailing my Potter 15 for nearly two years and never reached that speed. I won't open the main in those winds yet. And definitely not when I am alone. But wow. This is gonna be fun.

Congats on the new ride. Yes a new world; no disrespect to your old boat, but its hard to find a slower boat that a WWP15.

I know how you felt when I took out the very first 23.5 in a good breeze in the late evening on Smith mt. Lake in August of 1991. It was very enjoyable too. Glad to hear your maiden voyage experience and may you enjoy your boat.

Congrats. Route your lines to the cockpit and get a tiller tamer and you'll soon be able to fly the main and jib by yourself. With a furler on the front you'll be surprised how easy it is to solo flying the main and jib.

Thanks Pepto. Actually that was a question I had. How to single hand this thing. Was going to post another thread. Any recommdation for tiller tamers? Mine has fittings at the end of the tiller that seem designed for an extension. Would love some ideas.

Looks good, except won't I need to sell my boat to afford one?
Maybe the ST1000, but the tiller tamer ain't that bad... The angles on the tamer aren't perfect by the installation procedure, but it worked pretty well... In the meantime look up Cajun tiller tamer... Works well with the round aluminum tiller.
