So after a multi-month ordeal finding, buying, and getting a 260 hauled almost 800 miles I've finally had a few succesful sails. I'm not an experienced sailer, but so far we are pretty happy with the boat and are looking forward to using her a lot. We are stepping down from a 29 foot powerboat boat but the space in this 26 footer is not bad at all. We added the pop top over the companionway and that adds a ton of space. Dave Condon - it appears as though you are pretty active in this forum! I just wanted to thank you for your help getting my boat up here and let you know I've had her out three times so far. We hit some heavier wind (20-25 knot gusts) on Friday which was little much given my lack of experience sailing but had a great time anyway. From the looks of this forum folks really enjoy the 260 and I am looking forward to adding lots of stuff to her. I've made a bunch of improvements already (pressure water, battery charger, pop top, table mods, GPS) based on suggestions from this forum and will post pictures soon. FYI - purchasing a used 260 was a bit of an effort. I ended up finding one listed on this website but had to fly to see it and have it hauled. It was just happenstance that I met Dave and he ended up being a big help getting it out of the water and ready for hauling. I'm under the impression that he has a couple of used ones coming in though if anyone is looking. Pictures of modifications to follow if the sun ever comes back out up here.

Raining all Day Again

Its raining now and weather man said its going to rain all day again, yesterday it would have been a nice day to go out if I did not have to work but oh well we all need to pray to the sun gods and don't forget the wind gods. 25-30 gust winds that's a lot of wind for a newbe in a 260. I guess you found out what a great guy dave is,he was very helpful with me when I was interested in a 260 with loads of info helping me decide what boat to buy so have fun with your new to you boat,we waited all winter and now we will wait for better weather, always waiting ,waiting for the weekend to go sailing, waiting for the wind, waiting for a good day off when ever to go sailing, now waiting to retire and go south always waiting. nick

Oh, the weather

Nick - I hear you. The weather in the North East this May has been horrible. I suspect we have had 3 or 4 sunny days this month at most. I can't handle it any more. Might have to move south BEFORE I retire! Take my 260 with me.
