Made in USA Products in the Store?

I was browsing your store again and wondered which product was made where, some of us like to shop USA, or know where a product by a US or foreign company is made.
Some online stores like MEC do this as normal product disclosure while many do not.
Highlighting place of manufacture empowers people to shop local. It would be nice to more easily choose where or which country my buying power is supporting when I refit my boat this winter.

Hi Stretch,

You know, we tried to do that once but the regulations that dictate where a product is from are pretty complex here in the states, and it gets messy. Some products have components made in three countries and are assembled in the US. Where is it "made?"

For example, all of our canvas products are fabricated in the US but I don't know where Sunbrella fabric is made. Looking at the careful wording on their web site, I doubt it is anywhere in North America.

Sites like MEC, which sell a high proportion of clothing, have it easier because they the clothing manufacturer is required to determine where the product is made declare it (at least, they have to here in the US). Other product categories don't have to disclose that, and don't.

We eventually gave up, as the process was difficult and time consuming, the manufacturers were not always cooperative or didn't know (based on the US regs), and we didn't want to make a mistake and mislead anyone.

All that said, we could certainly do a better job of identifying which products are made in the US and Canada and letting you know. I'll take that up with Bly and we'll see what we can do in that regard.

I agree with Phil about trying to track down what is made where and content source of a product. Best example I know of is that the most American car, today based upon materials and labor, is the Toyota Camry.

Or processed foodstuffs. Very difficult figuring where they're from.

processed foodstuffs are made in hell. most everything in usa is outsourced. good luck in your search.

Thanks for your replies. I know my boat bumpers are made locally, in Washington State. My X5 autopilot was made[or assembled] in Hungary, of all places...it was wired wrong and I figured that out from your site here,Thanks again.
