Made a few changes last winter

Always had issues with space and had some time last winter to do some alterations on my 34. Turned out pretty well I think. Got rid of the carpet in the V berth and saloon, made V berth larger by a foot, refurbed the vanity, squared off the head( future reno going to happen here), refurbed the dinette table and galley, sanded and buffed up the sole. Enlarged the side storage cabinets maintained the look and now they are at least useful. I had the help of a friend who is also a joiner by trade. He did the teak work and new laminate counter tops. Have also sent this to the boat mods section for anyone interested. I see its not posted yet though.

Well, I did feed him a few beers alright and traded some electrical work. Buying him lunch worked wonders.

These are some nice modifications. Moving the sink was a great idea. You now use space that was useless and can use the space that was limited. Did you add another through-hull? I can't see the drain run being direct there...
The dinette table looks nice. The side storage looks more useful, but do you find it really is and worth the change? I like the access from the dinette seat back to the sink base. I don't know how I would use it, though.

Nice job! Would be interested in how/where you ran the sink drain- presume it was to the existing thru hull?

Ah the sink drain. you will notice 2 access panels on the back of the counter. One is access to the plumbing for the sink as noted and the other one access the through hull. Once opened you can push the drawers forward and easily reach the through hull which was new a couple of years ago. I installed a 90 degree fitting on it to direct the drain hose to the new location. I'll try to remember to get a couple of pictures.

Re the side cupboards. It used to bug the hell out of me when could not even store a magazine or cruising book in them without them jamming up because they were too small. Also, storing light weight food items became a hassle as well. It was almost as if the originals were installed just for looks. Now they are functional. Under the new sink is grand central for an number of different line junctions including cockpit shower, hot water tank feed and return, sink faucet connections, water purifier connection and access to the sink drain. So its quite busy and I like to maintain access easily if there are problems.

WELL DONE!

You make us envious, both of the work done and of the wood-working friend who will work for beers!
