No point in replacing it...

'Cuz you're at least 500 miles from any waters in which you'd be ablel to use it...'cuz you have to be in open ocean at least 3 miles from the nearest point on the whole US coastline to dump a tank legally. Pumpout is the only legal option in all inland waters.

That simplifies your plumbing anyway...no y-vavles, no macerator pump, no vented loops or seacocks to maintain (except the ones in the toilet intake).

Course you could...

Just turn the bolt on the back of the unit. Located on the motor side is a bolt that directly attaches to the motor shaft. Just turn the bolt in the right direction using a wrench and break the "goop" that is holding the impeller/chopper. I have to do it almost every time I use mine but it only takes a minute now that I know which way to turn the bolt. BTW, turning the bolt the wrong way is VERY BAD for the impeller vanes. I determined the rotation by feeling the bolt while the admiral turned the macerator one and off. I jerked just a little but enough to determine rotation direction.

I've heard someone advise to install quick connects in the wiring so that you can briefly reverse the motor to clear a clog. Is this a NO NO ??

That's a no-no...

Never use quick connects or wire nuts on a boat.

Fwiw, according to a BOAT/US article from a couple of years ago, 55% of all boat fires are electrical in origin (only 8% are fuel related, which shoots down a popular theory)...30% were caused by DC wiring [problems....shorts, overloads, no-no's etc.

Running in reverse

If you run the macerator in reverse you will damage the pump impeller. Use the bolt on the motor side of the pump to physically turn the pump to loosen jams.
