Intrusive!!!
Alan,What we are discussing has nothing to do with whether or not baoters care about clean water. Do not think that just because we don't support the passage of another law doesn't mean that we don't care about clean water. And also don't think that we are not consciencious boaters who properly dispose of our waste. The point of my arguement is we have laws already in place that are there to ensure we boaters do our share to keep the environment clean. Our efforts are for naught, though, when we have our holding tanks pumped out, only to have that waste and millions of gallons more dumped into the water when a municipality's waste treatment plant malfunctions.Better for boaters to treat their own waste (making it cleaner than any EPA standards) than to rely on the same faulty system to treat it for us.Remember that any time you suggest a passage of a law the result every time is the spending of more public money and further restriction on personal freedoms. Clean water is a noble goal to pursue, but trying to make boaters solely responsible for events they can't control is useless and wasteful.Better to spend your time to get your local town to upgrade their waste treatment facilities to do a better job of cleaning waste and not dump that into the water system.Les Murray
