I have an 04 Hunter 36. It is kept in Olympia WA where winter temps seldom reach 32'.
The last two years the bottom bolt / stud on the macerator pump has broke and of coarse causes leaks since there is not valve between the holding tank and the pump. The pump is only used during summer while in international or Canadian waters. Last year think it was freeze problem RV anti freeze was put in tank, but bottom bolt has been broke.

It is a Jabsco pump, was replaced new last fall.

Has anyone experienced the same problem and what did you do to correct.

Re: Check This

Ken, I have a 2003 466 in Bremerton and have not had a problem with the macerators...don't think freezing is the issue. Check out Rick D's link.

I had the same problem - the bolts on both macerator pumps broke in my 3 year old boat. What a mess! I now close the valve on my Hunter 45CC at the holding tank outlet always! A friend had the same problem! Bad design of the macerator pump!

Best wishes,

Viktor
