Can I install my new replacement macerator in a new location that would be higher than the holding tank? My concern is that the elevated macerator would then be drawing the liqued uphill through the hose and thinking that it would maybe require a prime to do so.

Installing it above the tank MIGHT eliminate the need for a vented loop in its discharge line. I've never heard of any need to prime it before running it.

If you go with a Whale Gulper, it will last longer and be more flexible in its position as it is a diaphragm pump and does not need a macerator to work. Check out the videos on the Whale site of the pump in action.

You have to check if the selected pump can actually perform that function. This is based both on the height and the pressure drop of the hose leading to it. This is based on the type of pump and its specifications.
