I was just wondering if this was an origional rudder for a mac22. Or, if anyone knows how I could get this rudder to stay down, it continually floats up and makes for poor steering. aight, thanx again for your help... Droo

Probably not.
I had previously owned a 1972 Venture 2-22. That boat had a two piece fold-up rudder made out of teak. Maybe THAT wasn't original. The end of your tiller handle, where it attaches to the rudder, doesn't look like a MacGregor part. Also,the rudder should not be angled back, it should be angled forward. I could be wrong.

I have MAC 22 and that is definitely not the original rudder - it is not even a good copy. -Not all bad- This is an opportunity for you to select a rudder that best suits your sailing enviroment

Re-route that line
Use a boat hook to push the rudder and run a line from the front edge of the rudder thru the pintles, around that block and to a small cam cleat that you will mount to the side of the tiller handle.
