Can anyone give me a source for engineering drawings or specs for a Morgan 34?? I've pulled the mast and engine of a M34. Underneath the mast, it looks like the construction is a sandwich of a 4x6 block of wood (in good shape) with the turning block for the swing keel and then the mast shoe. Both the shoe and turning block were of steel, now rust. The turning block looks like it might have been about a 1/2 inch thick at on time, and the shoe; who knows, it's only about an 1/8" now. I can get new ones manufactured pretty reasonable if I had drawings. Also, the engine support looks is steel, about 1/2 inch thick held in place by four bolts. It's in good shape, but the bolts that hold it to the hull are not so trust worthy and there's not enough of them left to determine if the are Lag Bolts like what held the mast shoe or if they are studs with a nut. The heads are so rusted I don't trust them to hold a hamster in a wheel much less the motor. Any advise as to what they are and how they secure the support to the hull? Thanks

Motor Support Help

If they are going into a fiberglass stringer, they a probably a lagged hanger bolt. I would have thought they are made of bronze. They may have used zinc plated and the plating corroded away. If you can get the nut off and a good deal exposed try a pipe wrench with sharp teeth to back out the stud. Good luck I know this will not be fun. Frank

Bigbird did you find the drawings? I am considering a 1979 M-34 but it needs work. The chain plates are leaking so the bulkhead and floors are discolored. I maybe be doing the same repair your talking about. Dennis
