M25 oil consumption

Brought my boat up from SoCal, motoring most of the way. Had to add oil regularly, about a pint a day. Is that normal for an old Universal diesel with about 800 hours?

We have an M25, 1986, 2600 hours, no oil use at all.

My M25 doesn't use any oil unless I fill it all the way up. If I fill it to the top of the dipstick it will use oil, about down to the 3/4 mark on the stick. If I leave the level there, it stays there, uses no oil.

Recently had to motor 9 hours, after another recent trip that involved motoring more than 5 hours.
1770 hours on the Hobbs, like Jviss mentioned, the M25 likes to stay at the 3/4 mark on the dipstick.
Both Oil and Transmission fluid are changed every Spring, and brought up to the F level on the dipsticks
