I got MEK at Home Depot

I bought a small tube, dropper style at Home Depot a few years ago, just used a little bit a week ago. If you need a brand name or part number I can look it up over the weekend. Mike

It's not exactly the same, but close enough

mix a small batch at first. Different MEK formulations will make the resin/gelcoat kick faster or slower. MEK is probably the most toxic substance you will use in normal boat work. Wear good gloves. Strong diswashing cloves are OK. Try to work upwind, even if you have to create wind with a fan. Mix over a plastic sheet so you can wrap it up and discard. I don't have any good suggestions for disposal other than regular garbage. If you don't spill uncured gel coat or unmixed MEK, it will harden into relatively non toxic cured polyester. If it doesn't harden, be patient. My glass guru, Fiberglass George, used to say "a drop will cure a barrel if you wait". I've had old resin in cold weather take overnight, but it hardened just fine when the sun came out.
