Can someone tell me where the transmission fluid is located in this engine. What do you do to winterize the transmission? Top it off till next season?

1986 27'M-18 diesel, Port side of transmission on top,Hexsided bolt head has dip stick attached to it,according to my manual do not screw back in when checking level& change once a yr.I just found mine yesterday.
