Alden 38' Challenger yawl Rockport Harbor
Spirit of Tradition genre for racing and daysailing. 47'6" long with a 9'0" beam, she's designed to go to windward while being handled easily by one or two people.

These SoT boats are usually high on the hard,...

...because they are all business, 7'6" below the water line.

To qualify in Spirit of Tradition class, these sleds are 'traditional' above the water.

Somebody likes them. At least 4 Eggemoggin 47's have been built. 2 berths, no galley. Simple boats.

going to windward is the mark of a vessel, hell, a four barrel raft can sail down wind

She is exquisite. And doesn't that transom view have a definite feminine image? :)

It calls to mind the Alerion 28. A wolf in sheep's skin! From the waterline down the Alerion looks like a J 80. Above the waterline it looks like it came from an antique boat collection.
The Morris 36 is the same as are the other Morris yachts. Classic lines and a modern underbody. Not even standing headroom. But no compromise in looks.

Many solutions to adapting the picnic boat for sailing.
The Morris is a lovely boat, but I have heard— and seen on at least one video— that it is a bit overstuffed with luxury gear. Fantastic on flat water, but not always happy to slog through chop, as a result.
Delighted to hear otherwise on that one. But there are fewer of the M36s on Buzzards Bay than there used to be just a couple of years ago.
