I recently purchased a First285 (1988) and had to remove the rudder in order to get the boat on a trailer (long story). Anyway, the rudder post and bearing look great, so I will put it back on again asap. However, I am wondering what to use to lubricate the rudder post? I suspect the bearing is bronze, but I'm just guessing. I sail in freshwater only, as did the previous owner. Anyone got any advice?
