lubricating rudder post on Catalina 27

I just bought a 1975 Catalina 27 in good shape, but the tiller is a bit stiff. When the boat was out of the water I inspected the rudder and everything was sound and free. Now the boat is back in the water but the stiffness is still there. How do I get the tiller head assembly off and lubricate the rudder post. Thanks for your help.

Get the grease

Aloha I just had to pull the shaft out of my 1974 Catalina 27. We had to drop the rudder to do so. There is only two bolts holding the rudder on and the fudder is about 50 pounds.Dont know if I would do it with the boat in the water.After we lubricated the post works great good luck.
