Lube for Seldén vang

I have a Hunter 33 with Seldén solid vang. There is a plastic cap where the two section meet. See red arrow in pic. This cap screeches and scrapes as the two piece move in and out. The noise is very annoying. I've tried McLube and other PTFE sprays. It last only temporarily. Is there a better lube that will stop the screech long term?

Try bearing grease, it will not wash away in water.
Lanolin is an other option.
