I am a new 25 Catalina owner....I have raised and lowered masts on other boats but never this one. Any experienced folks willing to share the process and help out a fellow sailor who likes doing as much as he can without paying someone else to do it? Thanks ......she seems like a really sweet boat and other owners tell me I will not be dissappointed.....

C27 non-hinged mast

Is the step hinged or not? Mine isn't. I just unstepped the deck stepped mast on my 27. The line from a mast crane was tied to (or can be hooked to) a line that was lassoed around the mast just below the spreaders then run down and tied off at cleats on the bottom of the mast. If you leave a length of line beyond that it's useful to manage swinging of the bottom of the mast once it's up. Once the line is on, have someone man the bottom of the mast, someone man the crane and someone(s) free the stays. Crank it up a few inches and disconnect the wires running into the mast. Hoist away and set it down. It went much smoother than I would have imagined.
