Lower unit gear oil

Hey all,

I always feel a bit weird changing my gear oil every year given that I probably put less than 2 hours per year on my motor, but it only takes a few minutes, and at least I can verify that it didn’t leak at all last year.

I usually use 75-90 gear oil. I just noticed the stuff I bought last year is 75-140.

I guess my question is what’s the difference, and is this stuff ok?

thanks in advance,

john

This would be the ultimate in care.

Myself, I just release a few drops of oil from the lower port every spring before its first use to see if there's any water in the gear case.
