Was trying to find a replacement lower spreader for my Islander 30 Bahama. One reply I recieved was there is only one spreader on I30. Started looking at pictures and only seen single spreaders on all of the boats I looked at. Now wondering what i have on the top of my boat? are there other I30 with two spreaders or do i have some unknown mast atop mine?

You may not have an original mast

My I30 1968 is a single spreader rig. The Bahama I am not familar with so I can't say. I have the factory drawing of the sail plan and it was dsesigned as a single spreader rig. Shrug. :)

NOT the original mast

Well the mast is two foot shorter and the boom is two foot longer than the original. The mast I have is 38 foot 1 inch, instead of 40. The boom is 13 foot 8 inch instead of 11'5" It looks like the mast has been modified to fit the sails, but not for sure about the boom, it might be too long. Not for sure how far back the backstays are from the end of the boom

With the mains'l hoist the boom clears the

back stay by about 8 inches. My mast is short and the boom is close to 14 feet. The sail number is 25 and the main was made for this boat. I think that the original sail plan called for boom roller furling. The goose neck is massive bronze and allows the boom to rotate. The sail is made with slab reefing points.
