I am going to pay someone $425.00 to replace my lower shrouds on my C 30. Does this sound about right?

Not quite the same but

I just replaced my chainplates myself with recommended U bolts for about $70. My shrouds looked ok except they were now too long to be adjusted correctly. I had my rigger (New England Yacht Rigging) do the job. They had to cut and replace 2 shackles and toon the mast. The machine to spice in the shackles weighs about 200 lbs and had to be carried on to the boat from the dock - no easy task for one rigger. The job took about 1.5 hour and cost $103. Based on this I think that either your costs are a little high or I got a pretty good deal.

$ 450 is pretty steep

Your shroud can be bought directly from Catalina and it doesn't take that long to mount and tune the boat. I had no background in rigging and I took my 380 completely apart in Flordia, shipped it to California and recommissioned and tuned it myself in a day!!! I learned a lot in doing so. One shroud would be pretty easy AND you would be learning about your boat. You can get all the info you need from Catalina OR right here on this web site (and feel good about doing it yourself).............. Good luck, Gary

not all that bad

Pat, You did say lower SHROUDS (as in 4) so that isn't too bad. I had all of my standing rigging replaced for $1400.
