Recently hauled the boat and noticed some play in the lower rudder bearing. It appears the play was between the bearing and the rudder tube in the hull. Is this a common problem? Is there a suggested fix from Beneteau?
I removed the lower bearing on my 305 . I expect it is the same design. there is a split metal collar fitted into the rudder tube. remove the rudder, then the collar and the factorty fitted shims, and check the fit to the rudder shaft. I then tapped the collar back into the tube with extra stainless steel shims between the tube and the collar to get a good fit.
