Lower mast retainer - What does it look like?

I have a 1974 O'Day Daysailer that i am refinishing. My question regards the lower piece of the mast that fits through the hole and goes down to the hull. What does the piece that secures the mast to the bottom look like, and does anyone have any picutures or sketches? I am unsure of how this should work at the current time. Thanks for any help. pin or screw

There should be a hole in the mast stub that matches a hole in the sides of the mast-step. A pin goes through these holes. Or there may be screws that fit in those holes.I'd suggest calling Rudy at D&R Marine (508) 644-3001, or check his web-site.
