Anyone know where to buy them? I'm
coming up empty when I put in searches.
I don't know what's missing or doesn't
work. I'd like to buy all new.

Any recommendations?

Hi,
I've had a lot of luck with Jamestowndistributors.com . They seem to have a full stock of 25XP parts and accessories.

Good Luck and Happy Sailing,

Google.

I am constantly amazed by folks who post questions here that could be simply answered by a basic Google search.

The links provided are very good, too.

If you were looking for guitar strings, I guess you'd go to

http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=24

...but they have the same issues:

Where can I find....???

M25XP part

Go from there, it might even take you to this forum.

Good luck, glad to help. :D

Stu, Stu, Stu. Did you miss the part
where I said my searches came up
with nothing? Some places had the
part listed, but they said "discontinued."
I tried with lots of different search
parameters and still came up empty.

And you don't think I did a search on
here first?

It took more of your energy to post
what you did than to give some
suggestions.

Thanks anyway.

Okay, I'm finding Yanmar alarm,
but not Westerbeke or Universal
alarm. Are they interchangeable?

Are they interchangeable?
Yes, the alarm switch portion is interchangeable if the threaded portion of the sensor is the same as your original. The alarm sensor is either a normally open switch (water high temp. alarm) or normally closed switch (low oil press.) so anybody's sensor will work. It's different if you're looking at gauges. There the resistance range of the transmitter and the gauge requirements have to match.

You can do yourself a big favour and go to your local automotive parts supplier and buy a generic switch from them for a small fraction of what a "mahrine" switch would cost. They're the same switch and have different thread sizes..

I believe I'm looking for what connects
to part 299066 and is a buzzer or other
type of alarm. That would be the
overheat alarm.

Haven't found that yet.

Then, the oil switch (is that also the
"sender"?) is part 299964, but again,
I'm looking for the alarm or buzzer
that signals low oil pressure.

Can anybody point me to the part
I'm looking for? Am I looking for
the wrong thing?

I did a search for "alarm" and for "buzzer"
on http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/
and curiously, it took me to Toad marine
supply. They both came back with
"Sorry, we did not find a match for your search on: buzzer. "

I did about 45 minutes worth of searching
on Google before posting here. I have
an M25XP parts list and owner's manual
but didn't find anything there besides
the "sending unit" and "oil switch."

I think I have the ability to just wire a
generic buzzer into the wire to the panel
but I thought it would be a part that is
commonly available.

Jongleur, the Yanmar alarm (buzzer) is near $200. I replaced mine with a piezo electric buzzer with the same decibel rating from an electronic store. $1.89 !!! I hid it behind the panel. Good luck

You are talking about 2 separate systems. If you are looking for a remove and replace part to make them work, there is none. You need to troubleshoot what you have. Start with the oil pressure system. On the engine control panel, you should be able to turn the key to on and get a red light and buzzer to sound. What do you get?

Thanks for those answers. $1.98 sounds
good to me. Even $6.39 from Allied is fine.

Donny: Interesting that you say there is
no direct replacement. That seems to be
what I found.

I don't get any alarm sound right now when
I turn the key on. No light either. That's
why I'm doing this exercise.

Great info. Thanks.

Seems like it should be an easy fix.

Could be a bad oil pressure switch, but most likely a broken wire. Have you checked the connection on the oil pressure switch? Do you have a volt/ohm meter and know how to use it?

I won't be down to the boat until April.
I'll check these out for sure. Thanks.

The REASON you didn't get a hit on the toad website is because the buzzer didn't come with the engine. The buzzer is part of the cockpit control/electrical panel made by SEAWARD.

I believe the Whale Company purchased Seaward last year and they don't sell to the public.

Go to Radio Shack and they sell the 12v DC buzzers.

Or http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,7405.0.html

This may get you closer to a source.

Good luck.

PS Trust you've addressed the engine wiring harness issue? http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,4546.0.html

I'll be tracing all the wires next time down
to the boat. Make sure it's a voltmeter at
the panel. Thanks for the reminder.

I made sure that the alternator bracket
is the upgrade. That was good to know.

If it ends up being the buzzer I bought a replacement at Catalina Direct
