I am looking at a number of 39 -43 foot cruising vessels to be liveaboard when I retire. I would love to see some owners reviews with some honest opinions of the seaworthiness of the morgans and any plus and negatives you have encountered. I currently own a Hunter 30, 1980 and cruise and race on the Great Lakes with it. Thanks in advance. If you don't want to post a review but want to comment email me at sord@rogers.com Stephen Ord

Morgan reviews

Stephen, you can also check out the Morgan Owners group at Yahoo.com. A bunch of us were regulars at the now-defunct Sailnet site, and one of the guys set up an e-mail list there. I think you'll find quite a few folks that'll be happy to discuss the pros & cons of these fine yachts! Jim Ocean Gate, NJ

Morgan 382

I am a fairly new owner of a Morgan 382 but have nothing but praise for this boat as a cruiser. Don't think about racing but with her weight she is easy to handle in a stiff breeze, stands up well and maintians heading when hit by a good gust. Very roomy inside and easy(at least in boat terms) to work on. The one upgrade i am considering is increasing winch size. She is presently equipped with Lewmar 42's and they simpy are to small for the genoa in a good breeae.

Morgan 38 CC 1995

We purchased this vessel last fall and have found her to be a great sailing boat. Roller mainsail and jib makes everything operable from the coockpit. Creature comfort of a queen size aft bunk cabin, microwave, inverter, windlass, and refrigeration are great. The downsize is storage. Anchor locker will only accomodate (1) anchor. Second head is useless and being converted to storage and work area. I am learning how to untilize all of the available space. We have 5-6 years until we get real serious ( more than 14 days at a stretch).

Morgan 381 Storage

Added storage on our 381 by permanently installing a dock box ahead of the aft rail. Provides storage, a seat, table for BBQ'ing and fish cleaning location. we also use the forward head for storage. Ted.

Morgan 43 sloop

Steven We have a Morgan 43 sloop hull #50 built in 1986. She was designed by Ron Mereck, probably before he became famous as a boat designer. We have lived aboard for 5 years and we sailed out under the Goldan Gate bridge 3 1/2 years ago and turned left. We have been cruising Mexico and the sea of cortez full time ever since. The boat is very comfortable to live aboard and sails very well, I owned a Catalina 36 which I lived aboard for 5 years so the Morgan was a big jump in size. We are buying a house in Arizona sow we will become part time cruisers, deviding our time between Mexico and Arizona. Good luck in your plans to go cruising, just do it while you can. Earl Dos Brisas, Morgan 43 Sea of Cortez Mx
