Last Fall while hauling out we noticed our centerboard had disappeared and is now somewhere at he bottom of Penobscot Bay. The 1-inch diameter brass pin on which it pivoted was hanging out of the shoal keel, and I have kept it. Bought a new c/b and pendant from Rudy, but he was unfamiliar with the pin. It is about 10" long. a. Has this happened to anyone else? b. What is the procedure for repair? lynpar

Brass was not a good choice....

lynpar, My guess is someone did it themselves and though that brass was a good thing. Bronze would have been good but brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. The salt water probably ate the zinc out of the brass and the rod failed. Where it failed is probably alittle flakey.... Rudy is a wealth of knowledge that I hope he will never close shop.... There is none that knows O'Days and can provide for them like Rudy. r.w.landau

Brass Pin!

On my 1980 Oday 25, I have a Nylon or delrin rod (pin) about 3.5 in. long and about 1 in. in dia. that the CB swings on. (pivots on) That pin is supported on each side by a FG triangle. I don't know if this matches your model or not. Well anyway, have a good day!! Tom
