I have been using KiwiProp for many years. Love it. Just about 3 years ago, after a haul-out job, motored to a marine 8hrs away nd lost a blade. A dowel pin probably came off & the blade flew. No biggie, just dive in and fit a new blade (with new design screw type dowel pin). Fast forward to 3 months ago, gone down to clean hull & prop and found a dowel pin half way out. Press it in and didn't think much about it. Later motor out of slip and bam! another blade goes missing. Ok so I pop in another spare blade.....now left with one spare. As luck would have it, last weekend goes another blade!! The last of the dowel pin held blade. That dowel pin was really really a bad design, which probably why they have the new screw type dowel pin. Gonna go dive under this weekend to replace the blade.
So heads-up to you Skippers who uses the old style dowel pin held KiwiProp blades, do take care and carry new style spare blades for just incase.
