Spreaders

The spreaders are fine if maintained. At least they are on my '83. Go to the association web site <catalina30.com> and order the "Tech Talk" manual. It has answers to hundreds of questions you might have about your boat. Good luck!

Zinc

You should replace your zinc each year at haul out. It should fit on the shaft tightly and no, shouldn't wobble. LaDonna

spreaders

We have an '81 cat 30 and replaced the spreaders-I just called Catalina in Southern california and they sent them out ($180+/-). We had them installed when we had the rigging redone. You should have the rigging done about every ten years-has your's been done? A lot of people let this go. If you had a good survey-they should have checked the spreaders for any signs of wood rot. The new ones are much better in my opinion.

ZINCS

Zincs should not losen at all and should bond to the shaft soon after being installed in order to do their job if they come lose they were not installed properly. I'm a diver and I do my boat C36 and others and find that they need replacement varying on how hot your boat or dock is and how well they were installed. I find that they need to be tighted alittle after they bond to the shaft just to make sure and I don't have a problem.
