Loose stringers on a Hunter 34

I have a 1983 Hunter 34 with a 21hp Yanmar diesel which has a serious vibraton problem between 1700-2300 RPMs. I have had the shaft aligned twice, the cutlass brg. replaced and the carrier for the brg. realigned. The motor mounts have also been replaced. I am told that the stringers are loose, and have observed the first lag bolt on the starboard side is stripped. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to cure this. It seems I will have to remove the engine to access the stringers. Anyone having the same problem. I could use all the suggestions I can get!

What about through bolting the motor mount?

Tom: Have you though about just through bolting the motor mount? I assume that your h'34 is similar to the h'31. Is it on the port or starboard side of the engine.

Stripped bolts

How about filling the bolt hole with epoxy, greasing the lag bolt( so that you can remove it if you ever have to) and working the bolt into the uncured epoxy? Another method, the one I used several years ago, was to drill larger dia. hole in the support angle and install a larger dia. bolt. I did not remove the support angle to the best of my recollection.

Stripped bolts 2

After thinking about it, I think that the holes in the angles were large enough to put a larger bolt in without drilling(this was in 1988 which is why my recollection is a little fuzzy). The fiberglass encased wood stringers were OK though - sounds as though you may have a more severe prolem if by "stringers" you are referring to the wood rather than just loose steel angles.
