After reading Don Guillette's sail trim book, I decided to go with a loose footed main this season. I added a bail with a single becket block to the end of the boom, and a 4-1 fiddle block to the clew of the sail. The sheet was routed over an existing sheeve in the boom, and then out through a curved exit plate to the cleat. I bought all the hardware from Duckworks online boating magazine www.duckworksmagazine.com for less than $50.00. I'm still playing with the set up, but I like it. It really helps when running to put a full belly in the main to catch more wind. To windward, I tweak the draft while watching the tell tales to get optimum shape.
