Loose Drive shaft Bolts

I was doing some routine cleaning and checking engine fluid levels on my new 290 when I saw a bolt nut and washer laying under the engine. I determined it was one of the 4 bolts which connect the drive shaft to the transmission. I checked the remaining 3 bolts and all were loose. I re-assembled it and tightened all the bolts. My question is "is this some that I will have to check on a routine basic or is the problem with the commission of the boat?. I've only had it for 4 weeks"

Same problem

My bolts came loose shortly after commissioning. I made sure all had lock washers and tightened them up. I check them at the start of each season and have had no loosening since the first year.

If it was my boat ---

---I would check engine alignment. This appears to me to be something the dealer missed. I wonder what else he missed?

Should Have Use Tie Wire

The bolts on the flanges of the propeller shaft should have holes in them and they need be secured with tie wire. Use stainless marine grade tie wire not the stuff for re-bar. The bolts and nuts should have holes in them for this purpose and if not you can drill them. If properly wired then they won't come apart.
