I've read your book and threads about the loop in the sanitation line coming from the head. On my 1981 Catalina 30 the loop runs from the head through the sink countertop and up into the cabinet under the portal. I Believe this is at least three feet above the waterline and may have been done by a previous owner. Do you think this is excessive?

Not excessive

If anything, it may be a little low. Vented loops need to be at least 6-8" above waterline AT ANGLE OF HEEL, not just when the boat is at rest. So if heeling can put the toe rail under water, 3' above resting waterline is not too high...in fact, may not be high enough.

So does the air from the pumping action push the liquid sludge over the loop or just enough to have some spill over the top?
