Greetings Sailors,
I am looking to replace the broken instrument/engine panel in the cockpit of my Newport 30 mkII. The are obviously no online parts stores for this, so I'm looking for some direction. Preferably from those that have done this before. Picture of mine attached. Also attached is my drawing of measurements. 20180727_122020.jpg 20180727_203320.jpg

@coreth send a Personal Message to @LeslieTroyer . He just did that with his Catalina 36. I'm sure he would have some insight into your challenge.

I replaced the panel on my c-36. I can get factory but the price was a bit steep. I replaced all gauges and tach, added a bunch of led indicator lights. I used ABS sheet and my CNC router. You can cut/drill with normal wood tools and can build without using CNC. I spent about 60 minutes doing the CAD/CAM work on the computer and 20 min in the shop. Cost was about $3 for panel, $100 wire and connectors (back to engine) and ~$225 for gauges. I have a spare un-engraved panel for future owner who wants to change boat name.

Thank you for all of that great info Leslie! I've looked at the options of recreating this myself with the marine plywood at West Marine($54 for a 2' x 2' slab. However, we are sailing to the San Juan Islands at the beginning of September, and I've got plenty of projects between now and then. I'd come to terms with waiting until we return from this trip to build the panel, but found one early this morning while laying in bed(not being able to sleep because of this project floating through my head). For $75, plus $25 for shipping, I found the perfect one at MoyerMarine.com :) Thank you again!

@coreth my wife really wanted to move down by you - Gig Harbor. I’ve got her convinced that Anacortes is a much better location.

Have a great time in the Islands !!!

Definitely for sailing. We love Anderson Island, but the winds down here are lacking, most of the year. However, this year, as I've been doing repairs/upgrades, the winds have been phenomenal. We'll be returning south through the Swinomish, so maybe we'll see you out there in late September ;-) Thanks again Les!

So, here's what I came up with from MoyerMarine.com

I'm happy with it. Had to cut a slightly larger hole to put it where the old one was.
