I do it twice a year
It is not a problem!! I have a triple axle trailer that I haul my C30 on in spring and fall, I do the same as Ken, the marina lifts it into the cradle (only thing I don't like is trailering on the cradle) and out and they step the mast. It costs me about $500 to unload-launch & step mast, and the same for pulling out in fall. I pay a friend $100.00 (each way)with a 3500 4x4 chevy single rear wheels to haul it 8 miles to my house and back it into my barn.So for about $1100.00 per year I get indoor storage at home. The marina could cradle haul it to thier outdoor storage for $800.00 PER YEAR. After 6 years I am way ahead. I found the triple axle for $800.00 added lights and brakes, welded the cradle down and all set. Like I mentioned above I wouldn't want to go much farther or on many hills with just the cradle as it is not designed to carry uneven loads. I would add some solid braces and bigger pads, cross bracing etc. but really works quite well. Oh yea the mast goes on the bow and sterm rails and strapped down rides well. I am 13' to the top. With a custom trailer I could get 12" lower. So far we have taken the chance of not getting any permits, because we are able to take mostly back roads, and around here alot of BIG boats are being hauled here and there. Saved more money on that gamble. THINK LIKE A SAILOR !!!Good Luck Dean S/V Rubiayat www.blowinganddrifting@yahoo.com
